your mental playbook

Tips

What to do IN a game

Acknowledge you are overthinking in the game. Notice that your thoughts are negatively affecting you.

Breathe! More specifically, box breathe.

Look for the light! Look for the things you can control. The things you CAN do, not the things you CAN’T.

Adopt a “Goldfish Mentality.” Be goldfish! FORGET the mistake, and keep playing.

REMEMBER your skill.

Regulate your breathing, take deep controlled breaths to calm yourself before your game!

Positive affirmations! “I got this” “I can do this”

Create a game plan! Study film, talk to your coach, and look at stats for the other team, to figure out what to focus on for the game

Visualize achieving success! Envision yourself in successful scenarios in-game to put you in a more positive mindset.
